Romancing the (FAUX) Stone
Vintage Jewelry is now being reproduced
due to increased demand,
but the charm and the value
is in the older imitation "fake" pieces
now bringing prices of $100.00 and up.

We have several dealers that have nice selections
of Vintage Brooches (Very Hot)
as well as Necklaces, Bracelets and Earrings
that are always in fashion!

Antique Furniture
How Old Is It???
Construction technique is one way to tell,
look at how the drawer front is joined at the side.

The hand cut dovetails are irregular in shape, spaced unevenly
and there are usually only 3 of them.
Example #1. and pictured below.
Machine cut dovetails are identical, evenly spaced
and have 5 to 7 on each side,
factory made pieces became available around 1800
but furniture craftsmen continued to handmake
the wonderful pieces seen in the market today on into the late 1800's.

To start off this month I'll share my interest in
American Country Furniture and Folk Art!
I bought this early 19th C. American Pine Cabinet
12 years ago and it has looked great in the many places
I've had it in my home.
Currently it is in the dining area adjacent to an open kitchen.
We have a similar cabinet for sale now in the store.
The model of the paddle wheel was a great Folk Art find
and the pewter plates help tie in the steel appliances
that are visible from the kitchen.
This is one of the ways I live with antiques,
tell us about your favorite way!
